A career in the Graphic Arts profession can be rewarding and exciting. Consulting or freelancing in one of the many positions available in graphic arts can be even more dynamic and rewarding!
Consulting can give you the freedom to create your own hours, work from home, work for clients of your choice and negotiate your compensation. Having a variety of clients and projects can be perfect for someone who craves adventure. You can solicit your own clients or work for a consulting firm that can help you procure contracts. Many firms have a long list of clients and can have a new project waiting for you upon completion of your previous one. Soliciting your own clients can be more risky, but the compensation can be better if everything you earn goes directly into your account. As part of your curriculum at AIU Online, you can create a portfolio of projects from each of your courses that you can show to prospective clients.
AIU Online offers degree programs that are applicable to the Graphic Arts profession.
- Associate of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Visual Communication
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication with a concentration in Digital Design
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication with a concentration in Web Design
There is familiar adage that says a picture is worth a thousand words. Most marketing and merchandising is visually oriented, so there is a great demand for graphic arts professionals in the business world. Many small companies or retailers do not have a large enough human resources budget to keep Visual Merchandisers or Graphic Design Specialists on their payroll, so they contract with consultants on an as-needed basis. That means there are many consulting opportunities for graphic arts professionals in advertising, printing, and in-house marketing departments. The consulting opportunities that are available in graphic arts are limited only by the imagination of the entrepreneur.
